The Department of Geosciences at Western Michigan University is committed to the all-round development of our students. Participation in organizations is an excellent way for you to receive training for the workforce after you graduate. We take great pride in participating in this training.
You are encouraged to actively participate in events related to your study and to implement your knowledge outside of the classrooms. This involvement helps to develop:
- Community participation
- Presentation, leadership and management skills
Our alumni tell us that these practices helped them find work in decision-making and managerial positions.
The Western Michigan University Geology Club, sponsored by the department:
- Stimulates an active interest in geology and earth science through sharing of new ideas, discussions and presentations.
- Increases an awareness about geoscience through different media.
- Fosters new experiences in geosciences through geology field trips and community events.
