URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNING
concentration in the Geography Major

Students prepare for planning careers with private consulting firms and/or city, township, county, or regional governments. This program prepares for careers in small-to-medium size planning agencies. A professional internship (GEOG 4120) is strongly recommended.

GEOG 2650 Map, Chart, Air Photos . . 3 hrs.
GEOG 3030 Geographic Inquiry* . . . . .4 hrs.
GEOG 3560 Introduction to City and
                     Regional Planning . . . . . . .3 hrs.
GEOG 5560 Studies in Urban and
                     Regional Planning . . . . . . .3 hrs.
    *Prerequisite: A course in statistics
      (STAT 1600, 2160, 2600, or 3660)

ELECTIVES (12 hrs.)

The remaining 12 hrs. of the major should be selected from the following courses: GEOG 2440, 3610, 3800, 4120, 5010, 5440, 5550, 5570, 5670, 5690, 5700, 5820, and 5970. At least one GIS course above the 200-level is
recommended.


COMPLEMENTARY MAJORS AND MINORS


The following majors or minors are recommended with this major: Earth Science, English (Practical Writing), Economics, Environmental Studies, Geology, History, Hydrogeology, Political Science, Public Administration, Public History, Real Estate, Recreation, and Sociology.
