The Arcadia Creek Festival Site is the place to be. It annually welcomes the coolest festivals around. The Taste of Kalamazoo, The Ribfest, the infamous Winter Mixer on Ice ... the list goes on. There are often live bands on the modern stages and fun, friendly folks to meet and greet. The Arcadia section of Kzoo is one of the city's best - don't miss out!

Who says you can't have fun while learning, mingling and networking? Kzoo's annual Art Hop is a great time to get out and see more of the city. Held once a month, Art Hop features a schedule of art exhibits that are open to the public. You hop from venue to venue (snacks are provided) and see all there is to see.

Located in the heart of WMU's campus, Biggby is a great place to meet up with a friend or grab a coffee on your way to class.

Awesome pizza, breadsticks and salads! Sundays and Tuesdays are family nights if you buy a large pizza, you receive a salad and pitcher of pop for free!!

This Greek restaurant has good food and reasonable prices, and the serving sizes are large. They include menu items for those who aren't up for an ethnic culinary adventure. It's a great atmosphere - calming like the Aegean sea.

History lesson: Kalamazoo's founder, Mr. Titus Bronson, donated the land that is Bronson Park way back in 1831. Now it's on the National Register of Historic Places. All of Kzoo can enjoy this New England-style commons located in the city's center.

"The crust, the sauce, the cheese. Bruno's sets the standard for American pizza," raves a long-time fan. "My first taste was in 1966. It's still the best in 2005." Head toward the big neon sign to eat in or take out. It's a hotspot for hockey and basketball pre-game meals.

With specials on Tuesdays and Thursdays, it's worth a stop in!

Caffe Casa is located in downtown Kalamazoo on the mall. Offering student specials, it's a great quiet place to get away and finish up all that homework.

If you enjoy Chinese food, you will love this place! Very fast and friendly service located close to campus, plus they deliver!

Caroline's Classic Attire provides both new and gently used fashionable clothes for the office and social events. They offer everything, from red carpet attire to career wear.

What has 12 screens and special student discounts? If you said Celebration Cinemas then you're right. Located in Kzoo's Portage area, Celebration shows the latest and greatest movies complete with stadium seating and the latest technological advancements.

When mom and dad come for a visit, clean your room, take them somewhere nice for dinner, and finish the night with something cultural. How about a nice trip to the Civic Theater? The Civic puts on shows like "Cats" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Climb Kalamazoo offers you open climb in over 10,500 square feet of climbing surface, including a lead cave.

Being a college students means a lot of things: you're cooler than all your friends still in high school, you have access to a much larger dating pool than you ever dreamed possible, you have more homework than you ever dreamed possible, and you get to listen to your roommate snore all night long. If you're a student in Kzoo, you also have access to Colonial Kitchen Pancake House. This breakfast will make you forget all about grandma's homemade breakfast. One plate of pancakes and sausage will have you hooked.

This little Italian treat makes all of their dishes from scratch. With the ability to create your own concoction, you can't go wrong if you're in the mood for a taste of Italy.

Located on W. Main Street, The Corner Record Shop has everything an audiophile could need. This store has everything from record players to DVD's. You may also be able to catch a few bands playing here from time to time.

Cosmo's Cucina is located within walking distance from campus and has great prices. It's closed on Mondays. More flavor, less hype!

Located about 10 miles from campus, you'll be glad you took the time to make the drive to Crossroads Mall. With anchor stores including JCPenney's, Macy's, and Sears, Crossroads also features Aeropostale, Pacific Sunwear and Wet Seal. Many larger stores (Target, Best Buy, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Kohl's) are nearby.

Serving great vegetarian and vegan options, as well as delicious entrees for those who are not under any dietary specifications. Crows Nest is open 24 hours Friday - Sunday and has regular business hours Monday - Thursday. Try the sweet potato fries!

Located downtown on the Kalamazoo Mall, this hot dog shop is a must stop for hot dog lovers. Open from 11-3 Monday through Friday, it's the perfect spot to stop for lunch.

Is golf your favorite past time activity? Head to Eastern Hills Golf Course and play on their 27-hole course.

Although not close to campus, this is a great place to eat. The atmosphere is open and classy. The menu rotates, so there are nightly specials to choose from. Make a reservation on weekends if you can.

Gimme Jimmy Gimme Good is Jimmy John's motto. While it could be expanded to "Gimmie a delicious 8" sub or giant club sandwich stat," we think the original motto is a bit more catchy. Regardless, Jimmy John's is the place for a tasty sandwich at an affordable price. They keep the menu simple with mouth-watering classics like the Sorry Charlie and Bootlegger Club. Check it out for yourself.

Located in downtown Kalamazoo, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, or KIA, offers 10 galleries designed to impress and entice all kinds of students. With low cost student rate admission to most exhibits, awesome classes (like oil painting, jewelry making, ceramics and knitting) and a Chihuly chandelier (if you don't know, you need to go) hanging in the foyer, the KIA is a day well spent.

The Kalamazoo Nature Center offers a wide variety of outdoor activities for any season.

Dedicated to providing the Kalamazoo community with local and organic food, Kalamazoo People's Food Co-Op is a great natural health food store. Stop by and check out some of their delicious Deli items! Sundays the KPFC offers a discount for students with your student ID.

The Kalamazoo State Theater, a fixture since 1927, is so beautiful you might have a hard time paying attention to the show. While operas and ballets are performed on the theater's main stage, the Band in the Basement features more contemporary performing artists.

Stop in King Wok Chinese Buffet for a wide variety of Chinese food.

Check out Kalamazoo's Skate Zoo for skateboarding, inline skating and biking. Their spine ramp and street course comes with 6,800 square feet of indoor skating area, and they recently added an outdoor street course bringing an additional 7,200 square feet of skating area. You don't have to be Tony Hawk to give it a try.

The Kalamazoo Valley Museum offers visitors all kinds of cool stuff, and it's all free. Head to the planetarium and check out the constantly changing night sky. On Saturday nights, autumn through spring, you can enjoy a special film series, live performances and other events in the Mary Jane Stryker Theater.

Located on WMU's East Campus, the Little Theater is just that. But the price is right. Showcasing big-budget and art house films, the Theater lets students purchase tickets for a special discounted rate. Both the Western Film Society (which is student-run) and the Kalamazoo Film Society present films here.

Loved Consignment Shop is a great place to sell some of your old clothes and make a bit of extra money, as well as pick up some great second-hand clothing.

Located so close to campus you can almost smell it, Tiffany's is a dining delight. This small, quaint restaurant is perfect for a good meal at a great price. Tiffany's extensive breakfast menu doesn't disappoint; try the famous breakfast stew.

Stop in and the owner greets you. Main Street Cafe offers a great atmosphere and a student special of two eggs and a side of hash browns for only $2!

Located near campus, Maple Hill pavilion offers office max, Marshalls, DSW Shoes, Hobby Lobby, Value City Furniture, Gamestop, Regis, Sports Clip and Target.

A great Italian eatery, located on the Kalamazoo Mall, Mangia Mangia is home of the $3.50 Monday spaghetti and meatball special.

At Putter's Family Fun Center, fun is what you will be having. Putter's offers it all - from Putt Putt golf to arcade games, it's a great place to spend the day with friends.

Located just 15 miles northwest of campus, Timber Ridge is the best place to ski. It has 60 acres of ski areas and gets constant lake effect snow. Every college town has hip hangouts. And, The Union is one of Kzoo's. With a relaxed atmosphere and awesome live music, The Union is the place to be. Swing by at lunch for a lobster melt or spinach and feta veggie burger, and return after dark for duck salad and grilled swordfish. Don't leave after dinner, though. The live music is most likely coming from a current WMU student or faculty member. The electric atmosphere is contagious.

Very close to campus with great student specials every evening. Patio area with live music on occasion makes this place even more enjoyable.

Water Street Coffee Joint is serious about coffee. Very serious. Located in the heart of downtown, Water Street treats coffee like the Egyptians treated cats.
