Orientation 2013 Schedule of Events

All students and guests will begin their Orientation experience in the Valley 1 residence halls. For easy directions, use 2299 Goldsworth Valley, Kalamazoo, MI 49008 in your GPS or Mapquest.

9:15 a.m. Check-in begins for students taking the reading placement test, and for students in the Lee Honors College.
9:30 a.m. Check-in begins for everyone else.
10-11:45 a.m. Orientation activities in Valley 1 residence halls:
  • Lunch
  • Lee Honors College Orientation
  • Reading Placement Test
  • Informational sessions (TRIO programs and Financial Aid)
12:05 p.m. Programming Session 1 (Bernhard Center East Ballroom)
  • Welcome
  • President Dunn
  • Discover Kalamazoo
  • First-Year Experience Programs
  • Student Activities and Leadership Programs
  • Public Safety
1:10 p.m. Programming Session 2: Academic College Breakout Sessions (Bernhard Center various rooms)
2:10 p.m. Programming Session 3 (Bernhard Center East Ballroom)
  • Financial Aid, Bronco Express, Accounts Receivable
  • Residence Life
  • Dining Services
*Representatives from Financial Aid will host a breakout room for individual q&a following their presentation.
3:20 p.m. Students and families will separate for the remainder of the program.

“Western and YOU Academy. Transitions: The Road Leading To and Through College”

3:25-7 p.m.

"Go West With Us" - this interactive portion of Orientation will assist students in making valuable connections, attend presentations at various offices around campus, get their Bronco ID, and eat dinner in the Dining Hall.

4:50-6 p.m.

Orientation Student Leader Panel

At Noon on day 2 of Orientation, students and their families will be rejoined. They will check out of the residence hall, and the Orientation experience ends. Some Academic Colleges will host open houses at this time. Details will be given at their Academic presentation on day 1.
