Fall Welcome 2008 schedule

“Settling Your Saddle”

Please note that the schedule displayed below will be finalized in June. The titles, times, and locations of Fall Welcome events are subject to change.

Move-inGarneau, Eicher, Ackley, Hadley, Harrison, Stinson, Draper, Siedschlag, Henry Halls

Saddle up!  If you are living on-campus, it’s time to move into your new stomping grounds!  Take this scheduled time to get settled in your residence hall, unpack your belongings, and potentially meet your new roommate.  Check-in at the lobby of your assigned residence hall.

FYS, ROTC*, Engineering CTP, Leadership Track*, Kalamazoo Promise, Seita scholarship recipients, MLK Academy, Trio SSP, Final Freshmen

*All ROTC and Leadership Track students will move in during the morning block, as you will have scheduled activities in the afternoon.

Residence hall students and families, feel free to stop by to grab some lunch.  You MUST show your Fall Welcome nametag for you and your family to enter the cafeteria. Hoekje/Bigelow will remain open until 5 p.m.


ROTC Kick-off Activities & Therapy Building on Oakland Drive

ROTC incoming cadets, this is for you!! Attend the Welcome Presentation and BBQ with your parents.  Meet sponsors/ambassadors, cadre, and upperclassmen mentors.

Parent receptions & Western Edge presentation for parents- morning & afternoon.


Parent Program and Reception President's Dining Room at the Bernhard Center


Commuter student check-in Location to be determined

ONLY commuter students participating in…. should arrive today. Check in at 4 p.m. and enjoy a welcome reception especially for you! After the program, you will meet your group, have dinner with your group, and participate in social activities this evening.


The Round-up: Meet Your AmbassadorFlagpoles and Goldsworth Valley Pond
Rain site: SRC indoor tennis courts

Residence Hall students and commuter students, meet your group and Ambassador at Goldsworth Valley Pond or the flagpoles.  Check information available in the lobby of your residence hall for more details.


Commuter Student Check-In Multicultural Center, Trimpe

ONLY commuter students participating in First Year Seminar (FYS), Engineering College Transition Program (CTP), Leadership Track, Trio SSP, MLK Academy, Kalamazoo Promise, Seita scholarship recipients, or Final Freshmen Orientation should check in at this time.  If you’re a commuter student participating in the above programs, be sure to come meet your group, have dinner with your group, and participate in social activities this evening.

Possible commuter student reception following check-in: 4 to 6 p.m.
No reception, just commuter student check-in: 5 to 6 p.m.


Residence Life Meeting

Residence Hall students, you’ll attend a short, informational meeting with the floor Resident Assistant.


DinnerValley I or II, Burnhams, or Hoekje/Bigelow. Cafeterias

Residence Hall students and commuter students, have dinner with your group at your assigned cafeteria.


After Dark Activities

Outdoor sports, giant flag football game, and pizza party.
