Commuter Student Check-in

Commuter Students

Why do commuter students need to attend Fall Welcome?

It is especially important for commuter students to participate in Fall Welcome. Since commuters do not live on campus, they do not receive as much exposure to campus resources and happenings as student who live in the residence halls.

Fall Welcome is a fantastic way for commuters to become familiar with campus, learn how to get involved, and discover key resources for their first semester. All of these elements are crucial to a student’s success his/her first semester. Additionally, commuters will meet other students and make social connections that will help them ease the transition from high school to college.

The Fall Welcome fee for commuter students is $150.

Where will commuters check-in?

Commuters participating in special programs will check-in on Monday, August 30 at the Bernhard Center at 4 p.m. Please check our Web site after May 1 for specific location and for the list of special programs.

Commuters participating in Fall Welcome only (not enrolled in special programs) will check-in on Tuesday, August 31 at the Bernhard Center at 4 p.m.

These students will then have a short welcome reception, then meet and have dinner with their small groups and group leader. Commuters are encouraged to stay for evening activities.

Students will receive a complete detailed schedule at check-in. Commuters will be given instructions from their group leader on where and when they will meet the following morning.
