Free Online Computer Training for Staff and Faculty

Access to training anytime at home, at work, at the coffee shop ...

Staff and Faculty Training now available
WMU is now offering free extensive online computer training for staff and faculty through Lynda.com. Once you have an account, you can access as many courses as you like from any computer with a broadband connection any time of the day.

Some uses for this online training site:

1. Provides measurable performance goals.
2. Research software before you buy it.
3. Increase productivity by expanding your capabilities.
4. Troubleshoot or solve software questions.
5. Assist in professional development.

New feature—now you can print out a certificate when you have completed a course.

Four easy steps:

1. Lynda.com has online training for over 150 software applications. Go to www.lynda.com to see what’s available. You can preview introductory sections of any product or topic.
2. To request a WMU Lynda.com account, send e-mail to:
   oit-lynda-admin@wmich.edu
   Accounts are good for six weeks. Past users may request access again at later dates.
3. View the tutorials on how to use Word and Excel 2007, Dreamweaver for Web sites, how to give a presentation, Adobe Acrobat, FileMaker Pro, and many other applications.
4. NEW! Users can now print out a certificate when they have completed a course.
5. Amaze your coworkers with your Word 2007 skills. Spiff up your Web site. Create secure online forms with Adobe Acrobat. Use the tutorials to preview software before purchase.

Accounts are available to all WMU staff and faculty, and to student employees at the request of their department head and depending on account availability.
