Borrow smart

When borrowing for college, it's important to think ahead. Always look for the right loan for your circumstances. Eventually, you'll have to repay that money. Create a budget and borrow only what you absolutely need.

Not sure how to start? Check out the Registrar's cost of attendance calculator.

Perkins master promissory note (MPN) alarm clock

The federal perkins MPN is a promissory note that can be used to receive multiple federal perkins loans while you are enrolled in college. By signing this promissory note, you are receiving a "line of credit" for the maximum amount of loan for which you are eligible, not to exceed the maximums allowable under the Higher Education Act.

If you were awarded a federal perkins loan, you must electronically sign the perkins MPN online at www.ecsi.net/prom49/. If you're a new borrower and you cannot logon to ECSI, watch your WMU email. You will receive an email from ECSI when your MPN is available and can be completed online. Due to limited federal perkins loan funds, if your master promissory note is not received within 30 days of your award notification (or at least 30 days prior to your last date of enrollment), your loan may be canceled.
