Scholarships for First-time Students

All the scholarships listed below are awarded at the time of admission. Scholarships are based on full-time enrollment (12+ credit hours per term) and are awarded for fall and spring terms for eight consecutive semesters, or until graduation requirements are met -- whichever occurs first. To receive these scholarships, you must enroll the fall term immediately following high school graduation, unless otherwise noted. Students eligible for multiple Scholarships for First-Time Students will be awarded the one of the highest value, unless otherwise noted.

The Dean's Scholarshippdf
This is a merit-based award for students who compete in the Medallion Competition in January. Students must apply for Admission by Dec. 5, 2008.

The Medallion Scholarship Programpdf
The University's brightest applicants are invited to compete for this renewable award at the Medallion Competition in January. Students must apply for Admission by Dec. 5, 2008.

The WMU Recognition Awardpdf
This renewable award is need- and merit-based. It was designed to help students offset the cost of housing.

The Provost Scholarshippdf
This renewable award is for non-Michigan, U.S. residents. Students must meet merit-based criteria to be eligible.

Presidential Scholarshippdf
This renewable award is for non-Michigan, U.S. residents. Selection is based on academic criteria.

Diversity & Multiculturalism Scholarshippdf
This award for U.S. students was designed to encourage diversity on campus. Students are selected by a committee and the award may be renewed.

First Step Scholars Programpdf
This renewable award was designed to help undocumented residents of Michigan earn a bachelor's degree.

TIP Scholarshippdf
This need-based award is for students who are eligible for the Tuition Incentive Program, or TIP.It covers undergraduate tuition only, and may be renewed.

The John Seita Scholarship pdf
