Robert Barstow Endowed Award

Eligibility Criteria

  • BSW student or MSW student in first year full-time or first year part-time program
  • Current or former AFDC recipient; or current or former employee of FIA (DSS); or has a career interest in child welfare

Award

Award Amount: $500 each (varies)

Nathaniel McCaslin Minority Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minority student
  • BSW student or MSW student in second year of full-time program, or second or third year of part-time program
  • Priority given to student who is the first generation family member pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Priority given to a student who has a commitment to working with adolescents
  • Single parent status
  • History of, or interest in, working in the community service area
  • Must be in good academic standing

Award

Award Amount: $250 each (varies)

Rebecca Ann Binkowski Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Second-year full-time MSW student
  • Minimum 3.75 GPA
  • Two letters of recommendation from a supervisor or director with whom they have work experience in the field of human services
  • Statement from student demonstrating human services career interest

Award

  • Award Amount: One annual award
  • $1,000 (varies) split between fall and spring semesters

Deloris Jordan Phillips Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • BSW or MSW student, every other year
  • Minimum 3.3 GPA at the undergraduate level
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA at the graduate level after first semester
  • The scholarship will be awarded as a competitive process with the selected recipient having been evaluated as the most meritorious in scholarship and life experience.

Award

  • Award Amount: Biennial award, alternating between BSW and MSW students
  • $500 each year for two consecutive years (varies)

Whitney Young, Jr., Scholars Award

Eligibility Criteria

  • Seniors in any undergraduate program or
  • Master’s level students who have completed no more than half of their program
  • 3.0 or higher GPA

Award

  • Award Amount: Annual award to three (number varies) students, either undergraduate or graduate students
  • $165 (varies)

Presidential Scholar

Eligibility Criteria

One undergraduate senior is chosen from each department/school as most meritorious of  this designation.
