Bronson Health Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Preference shall be given to a full-time WMU Bronson School of Nursing undergraduate student who is a resident of Kalamazoo County with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrate a financial need
  • Renewable for up to three academic years

Dunn Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

This is a scholarship for part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate students demonstrating financial need. Eligible students are entering or presently attending an accredited college or university in any field of study and have a 2.75 or better GPA. Preference will be given to women in transition (e.g., returning to college after raising children, a divorce, or widowed with definite goals for the next steps in their lives).

This scholarship can be used at Andrews University, Lake Michigan College, Southwest Michigan College, or Western Michigan University in Berrien County for tuition, books, fees, and other costs related to attending.

Award: nonrenewable scholarship of $5,000.00

F. W. and Elsie L. Heyl Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

The Heyl Scholarships are available to selected graduates of Kalamazoo Central and Loy Norrix high schools who wish to enter the Bronson School of Nursing Program at Western Michigan University.  This scholarship  provides tuition, fees, housing, and a book allowance.

June M. Sherman Nola Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Non-traditional nursing students, defined as either students who are single parents or from working single parent families.
  • Career interest in mental health, pediatrics, oncology, or nursing administration
  • Third or fourth level students
  • 3.00 minimum GPA

Lois L. Richmond Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Accepted into Bronson School of Nursing at the undergraduate level
  • Shows financial need
  • GPA of 3.0

Loren E. and Nellie M. Clark Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Undergraduate or graduate student accepted into Bronson School of Nursing on a full  or part-time basis
  • 2.25 GPA
  • Preference shall be given to eligible students representing a non-dominant underrepresented culture
  • If a graduate student is selected, preference shall be given to a nursing student concentrating in the field of Family Nursing or Community Health Nursing.

Rosalie Clauwaert Lloyd Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Admitted to the professional Nursing curriculum at WMU Bronson School of Nursing
  • Graduate of a Kalamazoo County High School
  • Based on financial need
  • Demonstrated compassion, sensitivity and commitment to the ideals of the profession

Anyone who applies for the Perg Scholarship is automatically considered for the Lloyd Scholarship.

Sheila D. Ware Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Need based
  • Full-time junior or senior undergraduate
  • Renewable up to four consecutive academic years

Theodore and Hazel Perg Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Admitted to the Professional Nursing Curriculum at WMU Bronson School of Nursing
  • Graduate of a high school from one of the following counties in southwest Michigan: Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, or Van Buren
  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) showing financial need, and indicate WMU as your school choice, four weeks prior to the application deadline of June 1,
  • Are/will be enrolled in required nursing courses during the semesters/sessions for which scholarship funds are requested.

Award

  • Award Amount: Up to a maximum amount of $1000 per semester (fall/spring) $500 per session
