John R. Borsos Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

To award annually a John R. Borsos Memorial Assistantship/Associateship to an applicant for an assistantship or associateship in the political science department. The award is based primarily on academic record and merit.

Award

Award Amount: $500 – $1000  for Fall semester (non-renewable)

Mark Denenfeld Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Beginning senior
  • Major in political science with at least 60 but not more than 105 credit hours
  • Demonstrate superior academic performance at WMU
  • Compiled record of community service and service to others

Award

Award Amount: $500 for spring semester (non-renewable)

Arden J. Elsasser Memorial Award

Eligibility Criteria

  • Undergraduate or graduate students
  • Enrolled in political science curriculum
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in political science and overall
  • Must have second semester junior standing by the end of the term in which the award is granted
  • Preference given to those with demonstrable community service and/or political activity

Award

$500 for spring semester (non-renewable)

Dr. George Klein Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Graduate student
  • Must be enrolled in Comparative Politics or in International Relations
  • Students may be working at either the M.A or the Ph.D. levels

Award

Award Amount: $100 for spring semester (non-renewable)

Stanley S. and Helenan S. Robin Scholarship Award

Eligibility Criteria

  • Award is given in alternating years by the Departments of Sociology and Political Science.
  • Must be majoring in Sociology or Political Science
  • Must be in the final semester of their junior year
  • Award is made on the basis of academic scholarship, disciplinary and professional accomplishment, and assessed potential for and commitment to advanced graduate work in the disciplines of either sociology or political science.

Howard Wolpe Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

  • Senior
  • Majoring in Political Science
  • U.S. Citizen preferably
  • Resident of the State of Michigan
  • One award will go to a student undertaking foreign study
  • One award will go to a student majoring in Political Science
