Every year you attend college, you must renew your financial aid application. Here are some tips as you are applying for programs for your upcoming years in college.
Every year you must reapply for aid. Use the Renewal FAFSA on the web using your federal PIN number. Start the federal financial aid application process early.
Students
whose applications have been picked for
verification will be required
to send signed federal tax returns and other requested documents to the
Financial Aid Office before federal aid awards are finalized.
If you have unusual circumstances, complete the FAFSA as instructed and send us a statement detailing your situation.
Notify the financial aid office of any scholarships or outside resources if they are not listed on your award notice. Scholarships or outside resources may reduce the amount or type of federal or state financial aid you have been awarded.
If you will be attending Summer I or Summer II session, you must complete a separate application form in addition to the FAFSA. Awards for the Summer I and Summer II may be limited to loans if the grant and work-study funds have been depleted.
If you are a senior who will be graduating at the end of summer or fall, complete the Loan Acceptance/Change Request form. According to federal regulations, your federal loans will need to be prorated.
Apply for continuing scholarships and departmental scholarships between January 1 through March 1.
If you are interested in buying a computer while you are a student, the cost of your computer purchase may be included in your cost of attendance.
Avoid lost refund checks by signing up for direct deposit and have your financial aid refund deposited directly into your checking account.
The university has health insurance available for students.
For most financial aid programs, you must be enrolled at least half time.
After the 15th of each month, view your most recent monthly statement of account that lists charges and payments that have occurred within the previous month.
Continued financial aid eligibility requires you make Satisfactory Academic Progress towards your degree. If you have not met the requirements after each Spring semester, your aid will be canceled and you will be notified in writing (with an option to appeal if you have extenuating circumstances).
