LITTLE THEATRE SCREENS REMASTERED A HARD DAY'S NIGHT The Western Film Society will present the remastered Beatles film A
Hard Day's Night at the Little Theatre, Friday, April 6 and Saturday,
April 7 at 7:00pm and 9:30pm and on Sunday, April 8 at 2:30pm and 5:00pm.
You Can Count On Me, the previously announced April selection, has been
cancelled in favor of A Hard Days Night, a film not already in
Kalamazoo theatres. Written by Alun Owen and Directed by Richard Lester,
this black and white 1964 film marks the feature film debut of the Beatles:
Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Nominated
for two Academy Awards, this film takes place at the height of Beatlemania
and follows a day in the life of the popular British group. Widely recognized
as one of the greatest rock-and-roll comedy adventures ever, A Hard
Days Night is full of Beatles hits like A Hard Days
Night, Cant Buy Me Love, She Loves You,
and many more. A Hard Days Night is a favorite with critics and
fans alike. Critic Roger Ebert cites the film as One of the great
life-affirming landmarks of the movies, while Salon.com calls
it, An hour and a half of pure, chaotic bliss. The enduring
popularity of the film prompted the restoration of A Hard Days
Night, which now includes new footage an enhanced picture and a digitally
restored soundtrack. The Little Theatre is on the corner of Oakland Ave. and Oliver St. on Western Michigan University's East Campus next to Spindler Hall. General admission is $5 for adults or $3 for students and free parking is available in Lot 11. For more information, call the movie line at (616) 387-8221 or visit the Kalamazoo Film Society's web site at www.kalfilmsociety.net or the Western Film Society's web site at www.wmich.edu/films.
