Kalamazoo Public Schools Parent Involvement Evaluation (PIE)

Chris L. S. Coryn, Daniela C. Schröter, Brandon W. Youker, Michelle A. Bakerson, Willis H. Thomas, Rose-Ella P. Lyke, Jerim Obure,
and Wenhui Yuan

The PIE consists of three phases. The principal aim of this evaluation’s first phase was to determine whether or not and to what extent administrators and teachers who work and teach in 14 of Kalamazoo’s public schools (12 elementary and 2 middle schools) know of and implement Title I, Part A, Section 1118 of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (i.e., parental involvement). The second phase of the evaluation consisted of in-depth focus groups with parents who receive, or are eligible to receive, parent invovlement from KPS. The final phase of the project will be the evaluation of the Parent Corps program, to be completed in October of 2006.

For additional information about this or other KPS projects conducted by the Evaluation Center please contact Chris L. S. Coryn by telephone at 269-387-5920 or by e-mail at christian.coryn@wmich.edu
