Strengths:
- Reviewed and revised on a regular basis
- User-friendly format with nontechnical language
- Certified by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
- Methods and guidelines for judging the quality of student evaluations
- Students included in their own assessment
- Ensures they understand the assessment process
- Defines and explains the role of evaluation
- Ensures those affected by evaluation can play constructive support roles in the evaluation process
Limitations:
- Developed for use in the United States; may not be appropriate for use in other countries
- Do not directly address standardized testing as related to school reform and statewide accountability
- Do not address standardized tests as related to decisions for guiding student instruction in day-to-day learning and development
