In addition to my current duties as an evaluation and assessment specialist, I also teach courses on the integration of technology in the classroom. Selected Evaluation Emphases and Experience: I am currently the Co-Program Manager for a five-year, $1.15M grant funded through the Hewlett Foundation. This project is a collaboration between the Colleges of Engineering and Education at UNR. I am responsible for the design and implementation of the evaluation component of this project. The primary focus of this project is to increase the quantity and quality of engineering students. Additionally, we are developing a cross-institutional evaluation plan that includes all nine institutions awarded funding by the Hewlett Foundation. I am also performing the evaluation for a technology consortium (5 school districts) in rural Nevada as part of the No Child Left Behind, Enhancing Education Through Technology project. Continuing Interest in Evaluation: One very important aspect of my job is the development of collaborations between my department, the College of Education, other colleges and departments, school districts, and the state to seek funding for a wide variety of purposes. In this role, I more often than not, assist in the grant writing process from the birth of an idea to the review of a final proposal. More importantly, I am often asked to provide guidance in the evaluation design. It is my expectation that this institute will increase my knowledge base, improve my skills, make me a better evaluator, and allow me to transfer this knowledge and skills to those I work with. |
