Finding The Evaluation Center in Ellsworth Hall

WMU has a Visiting WMU page with numerous, printable interactive maps and directions (click the "Campus Maps" link in the left column) (directions given on WMU's page are essentially the same as below but are not specific to Ellsworth Hall), and links to photos of Ellsworth Hall and the parking ramp (see the Building/Map Locator page). For visitors with GPS (Global Positioning System) capability, the following coordinates will allow your system to guide you to Ellsworth Hall:
      Latitude:  42.284929023632834 (42° 17' 5.7438")
      Longitude:  -85.61053276062012 (-85° 36' 37.9188")
            NOTE:  These coordinates are close approximations obtained from iTouchMap's Latitude and Longitude of a Point Web page.

• If you are coming to Kalamazoo from the east or west, take I-94 (west from Battle Creek/Detroit or east from Chicago) to the U.S. 131 exit north toward Grand Rapids. If you are coming from the south or north, enter Kalamazoo on U.S. 131.
• If coming from the east or west on I-94, take U.S. 131 north from I-94 for about 2.7 miles to Exit #36A onto Stadium Drive (also named Business I-94 East and/or Business U.S. 131 North). If coming from the north or south on U.S. 131, watch for Exit #36. Exit off U.S. 131 onto eastbound Stadium Drive (Business I-94 East and/or Business U.S. 131 North).
• Take Stadium Drive for approximately 2.7 miles to Oliver Street (the fifth traffic light from the U.S. 131 exit). As you approach Oliver Street there are WMU banners on the street light posts. Turn left at the traffic light onto Oliver Street. There is not a left turn signal at Oliver.
• Cross the railroad tracks and at the stop sign at the next intersection (the end of Oliver Street - about 100 meters) turn right onto Western Avenue.
• At the first traffic light after turning onto Western Avenue (about 100 meters) make a left turn onto West Michigan Avenue.
• Get immediately into the right lane; the parking ramp comes up quickly on your right (again about 100 meters).
• Turn into the parking ramp on your right (Parking Lot 80; Parking Structure 1). Metered parking is available on the west side of the ramp on level three. The cost of parking at the meters is $0.25 for 15 minutes; only quarters are accepted. A temporary permit allows you to park in any EMPLOYEE parking area but not at the meters. Employee parking areas are on the west side of levels one and two. Driving in the ramp can be confusing; watch the signs carefully. You turn to the left in the middle of the ramp to move up or down to the next level; stay to your left at these turns. The levels are also labeled on the overhead beams as to which permits are allowed.

• The walkway from the ramp to Ellsworth Hall is on level three on the west side of the ramp. The stairs and elevator in the ramp are on the west side toward the south end of the ramp (adjacent to the walkway). Take the walkway from the ramp, cross the street, and enter Ellsworth Hall through the doors just to the right of the crosswalk.
• We have posted to the Web a QuickTime VR movie and several photos of the area of the WMU campus near Ellsworth Hall. If you are unfamiliar with campus, these photos may help you get oriented and allow you to recognize the landmarks near Ellsworth.

There are two options for getting to our office once you are in Ellsworth Hall.

If you enter Ellsworth from the Parking Ramp side:

1.  By stairs:  After entering Ellsworth Hall, proceed straight ahead to the Exit door. The door leads to the main stairway (and back outside). Go up the stairs to the fourth (top) floor. At the fourth floor landing, enter the door to the right side. This brings you to our main reception area.

2.  By elevator:  After entering Ellsworth Hall, go to your right around the lobby seating area. At the end of a short hall, before the closed door, the elevator is on your right. Take the elevator to the fourth floor. Exit to your left off the elevator and go to the end of the hall. Go out the A-wing door on your right and immediately enter the B-wing door on your left. This brings you to our main reception area.

If you enter Ellsworth from the west (Student Center) side:

1.  By stairs:  As you enter Ellsworth Hall, you will be in the main stairway. Go up the stairs to the fourth (top) floor. At the fourth floor landing, enter the door to the right side. This brings you to our main reception area.

2.  By elevator:  After entering Ellsworth Hall, go to your left past the lobby seating area. At the end of a short hall, before the closed door, the elevator is on your right. Take the elevator to the fourth floor. Exit to your left off the elevator and go to the end of the hall. Go out the A-wing door on your right and immediately enter the B-wing door on your left. This brings you to our main reception area.
