ATE Evaluation Time Line

Evaluation project work to date and time line
Year 1:
  • April 1 1999: Award received to begin project work.

  • April - August 1999: ATE documents reviewed for background information and initial assessment conducted. Staff and advisors contracted. Initial set of indicators drafted.

  • June 1999: Interim surveys piloted to test initial web-based system and to assist the ATE program staff at NSF in their monitoring of center and project progress.

  • August 1999: Project staff met with Evaluator Group for input into indicators and data collection processes.

  • October 1999: Project staff attended ATE PI meeting and conducted evaluation workshop with project and center staff to share information and receive feedback on current indicators and survey items.

  • November 1999: Project staff met with Advisory Panel for advice on various data collection issues.

  • February 2000: Survey and systems piloted with 10-15 projects and centers.

Year 2:
  • Spring 2000: Survey field-tested.

  • May 2000: Project staff met with Evaluator Group for input on the survey pilot data and advice on the site visits proposal.

  • Summer 2000: Status Report 1 finalized.

  • Fall 2000:
    • October 2000: Project staff met with Advisory Panel for advice on site visit and Survey 2001 planning.
    • October 2000: Project staff attended ATE PI meeting and conducted workshops with project/center staff to share information and receive feedback.
    • Conducted site visits to projects and centers.
    • Completed Status Report 2.
    • Finalized Survey 2001 instrument and procedures.
    • Developed and made available web page reports and information.

  • January-February 2001: Completed site visits to projects/centers.

  • February 2001: Made Survey 2001 available to projects/centers for completion.

Year 3:
  • May 2001: Summary "raw" survey data made available to participating projects/centers.

  • May 2001: Focus group conducted with PIs & NSF re Survey 2002.

  • July 2001: Completed the Survey 2001 report draft.

  • October 2001: Project staff attended ATE PI meeting and conducted workshops with project/center staff to share information and receive feedback.

  • Completed a series of issue papers based on survey and site visit data.

  • Developed and made available additional web page reports and information (brochures, newsletter, issue papers, survey 2002 summary).

  • Completed a site visit handbook.

Year 4:
  • February 2002: Made Survey 2002 available to projects/centers for completion

  • May 2002: Summary "raw" survey data made available to participating projects/centers

  • July 2002: Completed the Survey 2002 report draft

  • July 2002: Met with Advisory Panel for advice on targeted studies planning

  • August 2002: Made Survey 2002 summary and PowerPoint information available on the Web page

  • October 2002: Project staff to attend ATE PI meeting and conduct workshops with project/center staff to share information and receive feedback

  • November 2002: Final Survey 2002 report to be made available on the Web page

  • February 2003: Make Survey 2003 available to projects/centers for completion
