Communicating about Evaluation: Style and Substance

Evaluation use—types of use, factors that affect use, and the impacts of use—has been subject to considerable discussion, theorizing, and research within the evaluation discipline since the 1970s.  Evaluation utilization is a ubiquitous concern for practicing evaluators. In this session, we’ll go over some simple things evaluators can to do enhance their communication about evaluation to clients. Attention to report organization and formatting; slide design; graphic presentation of data; and writing quality so as to support sound content can facilitate users’ receptivity to, interest in, and—most importantly—use of evaluation information.
