The Department of English offers a variety of events, both scholarly and social, throughout the academic and calendar years.
February 18 - Carl Phillips, author of numerous books of poetry (most recently Quiver of Arrows: Selected Poems 1986-2006) will read at 8:00 pm in The Little Theatre. Phillips' The Rest of Love (2004) won the Theodore Roethke Memorial Foundation Poetry Prize and the Thom Gunn Award for Gay Male Poetry, and was a finalist for the National Book Award. This reading is the first in the Spring 2008 semester Gwen Frostic Reading Series.
February 21 - Poets David Keplinger & Heather Sellers, A New Issues Press Reading, 8:00 pm in The Little Theatre Keplinger's third volume of poetry, The Prayers of Others, was published by New Issues Press in 2006 and won the Colorado Book Award. Sellers I the author of three volumes of poetry including The Boys I Borrow (New Issues, 2007), Drinking Girls and Their
Dresses (Ahsahra, 2002), and the chapbook Your Whole Life.
