Scholarships are awarded each year by the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences to outstanding students enrolled in four-year curricula within the college. Many of the future jobs in the USA will be in the area of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), but many students have a difficult time making the transition from high school to university degrees in these fields.
That is why WMU has implemented the STEM Talent Expansion Program (STEP) funded by the National Science Foundation. The focus of STEP is to improve the success rate for first-year STEM students and ultimately increase the number of students that graduate with degrees in these fields.
