CO2 Powered Car Races: Teams will pre-build cars from kits (provided upon signup) and then race the cars along a track. The races are single elimination, bracket style with the drawing for the brackets done randomly. This is a team event. Sponsored by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
Bucket Course: Teams are required to send a soccer ball across certain marked zones and through as many buckets as they can using only the random assortment of items provided. This is a team event. Sponsored by Engineers Without Borders.
Build-A-Chair: Teams will have to construct a chair out of cardboard and duct tape which will have to hold a certain amount of weight and must also be visually appealing. This is a team event. Sponsored by Epsilon Mu Eta.
Spaghetti Bridge: Build a bridge using spaghetti noodles and marshmallows. They will be destructively tested to see how much weight they will hold. The bridge that holds the most weight wins. This is a team event. Sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Water Balloon Launcher: The water balloon launcher is a large scale slingshot that shoots water balloons at standing printed targets. This is an individual event. Sponsored by Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).
Bag Toss: Bag toss will be the same as it has always been played with participants joining and playing individually or with a friend. This is an individual event. Sponsored by Society of Women Engineers (SWE).
Snooze Alarm Dash: Contestants start off in their own “beds” and are required to race to “get dressed for school” with a selection of oversized clothes from a suitcase and then race to the finish line. This is an individual event. Sponsored by Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
The Wright Flyer: Individuals will build a paper airplane using only materials provided including scissors and only 1 sheet of 8½”x11” computer paper. Participants will be given 1 throw for judging, and scoring will be based upon horizontal distance travelled. Airplanes must be built during competition, no pre-built airplanes are allowed.
Connect the Hues: Students are to connect colored tiles to go from one color to another in the shortest amount of time. This is an individual event. Sponsored by Graphics Art Society (GAS).
Video Game Competition: This will be a competitive video game with details to be determined later. This is an individual event. Sponsored by Run by Red Button Games.
