Frequently Encountered Problem
When I try to access E-learning, I receive an "Error: Session Already Running." Message
You cannot have more than one Vista window open at a time. E-learning writes and updates cookies on your computer during your session. If you fail to logout properly, these cookies are not updated correctly and when you try to login again, E-learning thinks you already have a session running. Always click the logout link before closing an e-learning window!
- Try closing all browser windows and quitting the application and logging in again.
- Clear your cookies. Clear your browser cache.
- Try using a different browser.
- IF ALL ELSE FAILS try rebooting.
Usually, one of the items above solves this problem. Here are some additional things that might affect seeing the "Session already running" message.
- This message can be caused by third-party search toolbars such as Google, Yahoo and others. Removal of all such toolbars will usually rectify this error. On Windows you can remove them from Control Panel>Add/Remove software.
- You may have spyware and/or a browser hijacker on your computer that is causing your problem. Download and run Ad-Aware/Spybot to remove any suspected spyware.
- Make sure that you have your browser and plug-ins correctly configured. Also make sure you have all the right browser components including Java 1.5 (or 1.6 if you are using Microsoft Vista)
- Do not access E-learing from a bookmark or your Favourites list. The reason for this is that any changes in the E-learning configuration since you bookmarked it may cause your browser to report this error.
