Why did you choose WMU?
I chose WMU because I love how the campus has texture (i.e. hills, lots of trees). I like how you can walk from one side of the campus to the other and it literally takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Walking around and just being outside are things I like to do so being able to walk to my class and even get there on time is a real plus for me. I also like how the campus is located so close to downtown. There are so many events always happening there and the places to eat are delicious. The restaurants range from Mexican to Greek to American Grills and there are so many more. There is always something to do either on campus or off so I never really feel like I have nothing to do.

Helpful experience at WMU:
I am majoring in Early Childhood Education and I am in love with it! The reason why I chose this major is because we all always have that one teacher we remember that may have made us feel better about ourselves or really affected the way we think. For me, that teacher is Mrs.Wilson. I love the way she taught her classroom and how she made everyone feel welcome and accepted at all times. I want to be able to create a safe and inspiring environment for my future students. I still go back to visit her whenever I get the chance.

One memory from WMU:
One memory I have of WMU that I will always carry with me is going to go see Wicked at Miller Auditorium. It was amazing! The way the theatre was set up and the electricity in the air really made the event special to me. I even won two Wicked tickets for two seats in the first 4 rows one night.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I would like to get a job teaching either kindergarten or first grade. I took a Literacy Studies class here with Suzanne Ender and she really inspired me to get my masters in Literacy Studies. I also want to become fluent in Spanish. I have grown up with it my whole life because of my mother and want to be able to eventually to teach in a bilingual school. I have no idea where I would be doing all of this but I can’t wait to see where I end up.
