Brian Horvitz is an Assistant Professor of Educational Technology in the Educational Leadership, Research and Technology Department, College of Education and Human Development at Western Michigan University. He earned a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University and has M.S. degrees from Indiana and from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Horvitz teaches EDT courses including Technology for Elementary Education, Introduction to Educational Technology, and Creating Online Courses. His research interests include on-line teaching in higher education, the use of technology in teaching in higher education, and preparation of pre-service teachers to integrate technology in learner-centered classrooms using a mixed-methods approach. Prior to joining WMU, Dr. Horvitz was an instructional designer and human performance specialist in private industry.
