Donna Talbot is the Chair and Professor of Higher Education and Student Affairs Leadership in the Educational Leadership, Research and Technology Department. She earned her Ph.D. in Administration of College Student Affairs from the University of Maryland-College Park, an Ed.S. from the University of Florida in Counselor Education with a Specialty in College Personnel Administration, an M.A. from Lesley College in Special Education, and a B.A. from Amherst College in Sociology. Dr. Talbot primarily teaches classes that focus on diversity and equity in higher education, including a special focus on Asian Americans in Higher Education. Diversity and equity in higher education are also the focus of her research and writing. More recently, Dr. Talbot's focus has been on Asian Americans and students with multiple minority identities.
A side and growing interest for Dr. Talbot has been in working with faculty and staff on handling situations with difficult students/staff, and managing conflict in higher education. As a new department chair, she finds that these topics are a regular and important part of her work--work that can result in positive outcomes and growth.
