ASSIGNMENT
  • Have both a user name and password for your Bronco NetID
  • Note:You should purchase one (1) USB key drive with at least 1 GB (gigabyte) so that you have enough space to save all the files that you will be creating for this course. You should always back up your files on another USB key drive. Floppy disks will not be useful for most of the assignments in this course and can be easily corrupted causing you to lose your files.
  • Register on ProfilerPro (see instructions for registering under Resources). Take Pre ProfilerPro survery.
  • Take the NC State Learning Style Survey. (Sample of results)
  • Register on Taskstream - Taskstream is an online suite of curriculum tools that you will need to register for and pay for. The cost for a semester of use is $25. You will be using this service to write lesson plans for the course. Please review the following to guide you for obtaining access to Tasktream.com.
  • INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING ON TASKSTREAM

    The service will cost the student $25 per semester and must paid for with a credit card at the time of registration. Students should contact Taskstream directly at their 800 number (1-800-313-5656) for specific questions. It is possible to get a year long account for $39, a two year account for $65, 3 year for $85, four year for $99, 5 year for $111, and six year account for $120. The normal rate for teachers is $49 year.

SUBMITTING ASSIGNMENT: Once you have completed the Pre ProfilerPro Survey, right click on the Profiler image with your name under it, go to"Save Picture As", save on your key drive. Once you have completed the NC State Learning Styles Survey, you will copy your results to a Word document and then submit document under Learning Styles link in Module #1 found in eLearning Blackboard.

DUE DATE: The survey image for ProfilerPro and the Learning Style results Word document are due by 11:59 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009.

NOTE: You can get to the course management site (through Mozilla Firefox) by going into GoWMU, logging in and clicking on e-learning OR by going to http://elearn.wmich.edu, clicking on the Western Michigan University link, using Bronco NetID and password to log in.

 

PROJECT BASED LEARNING - SEMESTER ASSIGNMENTS

In EDT3470, you will work collaboratively on developing pieces of a PBL unit that you could use with your students when you become a teacher. Each of your weekly assignments will apply to this single PBL unit that you and your team will develop over the course of the semester. You will be creating the following assignments:

Instructions for registering on ProfilerPro

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING ON TASKSTREAM

The content of this course is based on 2008 technology standards for teachers that have been developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). The Profiler survey that you are required to take for this course enables you to assess your own level of technology experience.
