2014 IIE Innovations in Education Award

In 2014, the Institute of Industrial Engineers awarded Dr. Kailash Bafna two separate distinctions. Dr. Bafna was awarded the Engineering Economy Division's inaugural "Best Engineering Economy Teacher Award 2014" in Montreal. He was also declared a runner-up in the "Innovations in Curriculum Competition."

ASEM Founder's Award

In the 2006, the MS in Engineering Management received the Founder's Award (best graduate program) by American Society of Engineering Management (ASEM). In addition, the BS in Engineering Management Technology has been named second runner-up by ASEM. Both programs have been rated in the top five for three years. There are approximately 150 graduate programs and 50 undergraduate programs eligible for consideration in the nation.

Registered Education Provider for PMI

In 2008 the IME Department became a Registered Education Provider for the Project Management Institute® (PMI®). This allows the Professional Development Units (PDUs) to be earned at WMU toward the attainment and retention of a Project Management Professional® credential.

Partnering with WMU’s Haworth College of Business for award winning supply chain program

The EDMMS Department has partnered with the Haworth College of Business since 1993 to offer both a major and minor in Integrated Supply Management (ISM). The ISM program has been ranked No. 2 in the nation by Software Advice in 2015 and in 2014 was ranked No. 5 on Gartner's Top U.S. Supply Chain Undergraduate University Programs.

Both Software Advice and Gartner lists WMU as the leader in its program scope category, a nod to ISM's unique combination of supply chain management, engineering, information technology and business education. EDMMS faculty teach all of the CEAS classes taken by ISM students.
