Exploring memories both personal and shared, "Memories: A Requiem" presented audiences with an amazing example of modern dance. This piece employed multiple technologies to help create a powerful memory space, enhanced greatly by the textural quality of the imagery. Projections were placed both on the main rear screen, the floor and onto a white sheet manipulated by the performers.
One of the most poignant sections of the performance was the "trio" which featured two lives performers working as a duo with a virtual dancer - created using motion capture - performing as if his partner were missing. We all continue to be amazed at the deep sense of loneliness expressed by this projected character.
The fact that this was a student-created piece is even more remarkable.
