CAROLYN PAVLIK,
Assistant Professor, earned her M.F.A. in Dance from the University
of Washington in Seattle and her B.A. in Dance from the University
of Texas in Austin. Carolyn performed and toured nationally and
internationally with the Austin-based Sharir + Bustamante Danceworks
for thirteen years. In addition to the countless dances she performed
by Sharir and Bustamante, Carolyn performed feature roles in Sharir
+ Bustamante Danceworks repertory by noted choreographers Doug
Varone, Ohad Naharin, Senta Driver and Andrea Beckham. As a freelance
artist, Carolyn collaborated with many Austin artists including
Kathy Dunn Hammrick, Margery Seagal and site-specific dance choreographer
Sally Jacques, as well as Seattle-based artist Llory Wilson and
San Francisco-based artist Kathleen Hermesdorf. She recently produced,
choreographed, and performed in her dance for the camera works Rack3
and Genderations. Her concert choreographic works have been
presented in Austin, Seattle and New York. Carolyn is nationally
certified in massage therapy and Polestar Pilates. In 2004, Carolyn
presented her research "Site-specific Dance in the United States" in the Impulses for Dance: Dance in the Community Conference
in Portugal. Her site-specific dance research has also been published
in the Australia New Zealand Dance Journal.
