Whitney Moncrief, Assistant Professor, earned her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College and her BA in Dance from Point Park College. Originally from Orlando, Florida, Whitney studied under the direction of instructors such as Edith Royal, Bruce Steivel and Lindsay Moncrief. Artistic credits include dancing with Hubbard Street II under the direction of Julie Nakagawa, as well as ODC/San Francisco. Moncrief has danced works by renowned choreographers such as Lou Conte, Robert Battle, Harrison McEldowney, Alex Ketley, Aszure Barton, KT Nelson and Brenda Way. She has performed throughout the United States, Germany, South Africa, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Whitney has choreographed works for Point Park University, Western Michigan University and Ballet Arts Ensemble and teaches regularly for Point Park University’s International Summer Dance Program. From 2006 to 2008, she served as the Artistic Associate of Hubbard Street II, leading the company both artistically and administratively. During this time Moncrief acted as rehearsal director, ballet mistress and master class instructor and taught in colleges, universities and dance festivals around the world. Most recently, Whitney was awarded an Instructional Development Grant by Western Michigan University’s College of Fine Arts to study the Gaga Movement Language in Tel Aviv, Israel under the direction of Ohad Naharin.
