Dietetics Interns

Intern Program Overview


Welcome to the Western Michigan University Dietetic Internship website. Our program participates in DICAS, the Dietetic Internship Centralized Application System. Application deadline for WMU, DICAS, and D&D Digital is Wednesday, February 15, 2012. More information about DICAS can be found at https://portal.dicas.org.

  • WMU's Dietetic Internship is a 40-week generalist program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE). CADE, a specialized accrediting body of the American Dietetic Association, is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • WMU accepts up to nine interns each Spring. During the program, interns will complete a series of experiences that will enable them to enter the work force with at least entry level competence in dietetics. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the Dietetic Registration Examination.
  • ClinicalThe internship practicum begins in late August and finishes in early June of the following year. The final graduate course of the year finishes in late June. The graduate can complete this online course anywhere there is internet access.

Upon completion of the internship, interns will have earned 15 hours of graduate credit toward a Master of Arts in Family and Consumer Sciences as shown below. Graduate Classes for 2010-11 are:
