Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) – FERPA permits students to inspect and review their educational records and the opportunity for discussion or a hearing if a student challenges any materials in such records. In order to view your conduct file, you need to contact the Office of Student Conduct, complete a file review request form, and schedule an appointment to meet with a representative from the Office of Student Conduct to review your file with you. FERPA also provides that Western Michigan University will maintain the confidentiality of your student record and not share your record with anyone other than University officials unless your written request for release is obtained.
