New Sounds Festival

The New Sounds Festival, originally an annual showcase concert for WMU composition students, has expanded to highlight some of the best contemporary music in the world. Last year's festival featured the genre-bending, 20-member new music ensemble, Alarm Will Sound; the Kalamazoo premiere of a newly commissioned Philip Glass violin sonata; WMU’s new music ensemble, Birds on a Wire, premiering a new work by Chicago composer Max Duykers; and two multimedia concerts featuring live electronics and projected visuals. The schedule for 2013's Festival is below. Information on the concerts can be obtained by calling (269) 387-4678.
