Applicaion Process FAQ

  • What should I do as an undergraduate student to be admitted to the School of Communication?
    In order to be admitted to a major in the department, these are the steps to follow:
    1. Complete the pre-com courses.
    2. Discern the major that best suits your personality and career ambitions.
    3. Submit the application to the Director of undergraduate studies.
    4. Meet with the advisor and develop a program of studies.
  • What is 'Precom'?
    Currently, the pre-comm courses for the various majors are as follows: (Scroll down to see a revised list for those declaring their major from Fall 2004)

    BCP COM 170, COM 200, COM 240 or COM 256
    COS COM 170, COM 200, COM 201
    IPC COM 170, COM 200, COM 201
    JRN ENG 110, COM 200
    MDS COM 170, COM 200, COM 240 or COM 256
    OCM COM 170, COM 200, COM 201
    PUR COM 170, COM 200
    TCM COM 170, COM 200, COM 240
    You need to complete the Precom courses with a grade of C or better in order to be eligible to apply for a major.
