WMU Communication Graduate Students Named Duquesne University Fellows

Alycia Iwan, Angelika Kausche, and Rebecca De Vries, three graduate students in the School of Communication at WMU, have been selected as this year's Duquesne University Graduate Student Fellows in Communication Ethics. At each National Communication Ethics conference Duquesne University sponsors up to four graduate student conference participants through the payment of all conference fees for the recipients. To be selected for this honor, students must submit single authored papers to competitive review. Authors of these top student papers are recognized in the National Communication Ethics Conference program and present their research at the conference. Rebecca will present her paper "Depression in theworkplace: The ethical dilemma of disclosure," on Friday, May 31, 2002, during the 10:30a.m. to 12:00 program. Alycia will present her paper "Conflicting codes of ethics between employees and organizations," and Angelika will present her paper, "How should multinational corporations communicate about global ethical dilemmas?," during the 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. session on Saturday, June I, 2002. Our congratulations to these students on this fine accomplishment and to Dr. Sandra Borden in whose graduate communication ethics course these papers were written.

This year's recipients will be honored at a reception hosted by Duquesne University to be held Saturday evening, June 1, 2002, from 9 to 11 p.m. at The Oaklands on the WMU campus during the Seventh Annual National Communication Ethics Conference. These events are open to all WMU communication graduate students (see article on Ethics Conference for registration information).
