Graduate Student Appreciation Week

The graduate students in the School of Communication play a vital role in the department, the university, and the community. In those endeavors they provide valued contributions to the research, teaching, and service goals of Western Michigan University. The university acknowledges the efforts of graduate students during Graduate Student Appreciation Week. The Graduate College and the Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC) will host appreciation events from April 1-5, 2002, which has been designated as National Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week by the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS). Graduate students are encouraged to join these activities which celebrate their accomplishments. A schedule of events follows.

Graduate Student Open House - Sangren Office

On April 1, 2002 from 4 to 6 p.m. graduate students are invited to visit with staff at the Graduate College office located in 3210 Sangren Hall. Refreshments will be served.

Graduate Student Open House - Walwood Office

On April 2, 2002 from 4 to 6 p.m. graduate students are invited to visit with staff at the Graduate College office located in 260 W. Walwood Hall. Refreshments will be served.

Graduate Student Appreciation Reception

Live entertainment, refreshments, and free t-shirts are some of the highlights of this event. Sponsored by GSAC (Graduate Student Advisory Committee), all graduate students are invited to attend and to celebrate the fifth annual Graduate Student Appreciation Week. This event will be held on April 3, 2002, from 4 - 6 p.m. in the South Ballroom of the Bernhard Center.


Graduate Research and Creative Scholar Awards and Graduate Teaching Effectiveness Awards Presentation and Reception

Presentations in recognition of outstanding graduate student contributions to the scholarly and artistic productivity and the teaching mission of the University. Awards will be presented to department and all-University awardees. Faculty, graduate students, and families of award recipients are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served at a reception following the ceremony. This event will be held on April 4, 2002, from 2 - 5 p.m. in Rooms 208 and 209 of the Bernhard Center.

Graduate Student Open House - Friedmann Office

On April 5, 2002 from 2 to 4 p.m. graduate students are invited to visit with staff at the Graduate College office located in 2313 Friedmann Hall. Refreshments will be served.
