Communication Grad Students Create Peer Research Group

Tammy Jeffries and Chitra Akoor, two current communication graduate students, have created a peer research group open to both undergraduate and graduate students. The purpose of the group is to provide an informal, participative environment for the exchange of ideas, expertise, and resources among students.

The group has met a few times already this semester and has accomplished the following:
· Conceptualized undergraduate research/class projects
· Brainstormed methodological approaches for current research projects
· Offered new graduate students tips on negotiating the rigors of graduate school
· Offered advice to undergraduate students considering graduate school
· Shared information and benefits of attending regional and national communication conferences

The peer research group plans to offer an opportunity for NCA participants to practice their presentations in a supportive environment at their next meeting. Come join them on November 16 from 5 to 7pm in Room 206, Bernhard Center.
