DECLARE YOUR COMMUNICATION MAJOR ONLINE

The School of Communication offers seven majors through the College of Arts and Sciences. Of these majors, FOUR may be declared without participating in a formal application process. They are Communication Studies, Interpersonal Communication, Organizational Communication, and Journalism. To declare any of these majors, please click the link below.

Please note that the remaining three majors, Film, Video and Media Studies, Public Relations and Telecommunications & Information Management, offered through the School of Communication are available to students by participation in an application process.

Admission to each of these majors is competitive, based on overall grade point average, grades in Communication classes and a personal essay. To be considered, you must have completed the required pre-requisite courses with a letter grade of "C" or better, have an overall GPA of at least 2.50 and have completed at least 30 hours at Western (for transfer students, at least 15 hours at Western). Application dates are January 15, May 15 and September 15 annually.
