James Mulcrone is a Director of Research Services at Maritz Research, one of the 20 largest market research firms in the world, working in the Automotive Research Group in Southfield, Michigan. Part of the Maritz Research for over ten years, Jim’s reputation in Maritz rests on his knowledge of the marketplace and ability to interpret data and extract meaningful insights that is communicated in via reports and presentations. In 2007, Jim was a recipient of “The Standing Ovation President’s Award” given by Maritz, LLC (the parent company of Maritz Research).
During his nearly 30-year career in market research, Jim has established designed, managed, conducted and reported research results all over the world for automotive clients, working with nearly all automobile manufacturers selling vehicles in North America. Other clients, in related industries, include: Michelin and Bridgestone, National Car Rental, and Navistar International Truck and Bus. Jim has also worked with some of the world’s largest corporations: Caterpillar, Xerox, Grainger, John Deere, Marriott, and ABC Supply Co. Inc. His special areas of expertise include customer satisfaction, market segmentation, brand image, and brand positioning research and consultation.
Jim began his career as a Junior & Senior High School English, Speech and Communication teacher in the greater Kalamazoo area for over five years. True to his teaching roots, over the years he has been a part-time instructor at Western Michigan, Michigan State, Lansing Community College, and Walsh College. Jim integrated is extensive market research knowledge and teaching skills as he assisted with the development and delivery of internal training materials for Maritz.
Jim has been active in the Detroit Chapter of the American Marketing Association, serving on the Board for 10 years and as president of the chapter in 2002-2003. He has served on the School of Communication External Advisory board since 2007 and has contributed many volunteer hours to his community including coaching recreation sports teams, volunteering at public radio stations, serving on the Whitmore Lake Association, and helping with Scouts, and as a regular lay reader at church.
James Mulcorne received his BA & MA degrees in Communication from Western Michigan University and earned a PhD from Michigan State University.
