Telecommunications and Information Management

Telecommunications and information management is an interdisciplinary major offered through the School of Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Business Information Systems in the Haworth College of Business.

This major prepares students for a variety of telecommunications and data communication, sub-disciplines, including telephony, data base management, network operations, cable television, satellite communication and intern communication. The focus of this major is to give students a well-balanced education in a variety of business and technical management issues.

The major offers a 21st century approach by combining people and resources across the greater WMU campus. Students graduating as a TIM major will receive a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the College of Arts and Sciences or a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) from the Haworth College of Business.

Declare as a major

If you are not currently in School of Communication and would like to switch to a telecommunications and information management major, please meet with the School of Communication academic advisor to discuss the major.

Telecommunications and information management majors may not select any minor in the Haworth College of Business due to the accreditation requirements through the Association of the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business.

You may declare a telecommunications and information management major online when you have completed the pre-communication courses for your catalog year and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5. If you have questions about the declaration form or your requirements, please contact the School of Communication academic advisor.
