Reading Horizons, published since 1960 on the campus of Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is an international literacy journal. As a journal devoted to teaching reading and writing at all levels, it addresses theoretical and instructional issues, concerns and trends in literacy. Reading Horizons (ISSN 0034-0502) is published through the College of Education.
Throughout the 40 years of publication, the journal has successfully brought together professionals working in the area of literacy. The journal's motto denotes the importance of its mission: "There is no more crucial or basic skill in all of education than that of reading." Articles included in each issue evidence the significance of literacy in today's world. Reading Horizons serves as a forum for many schools of thought, sharing reports and discussions of research findings, and ideas and theories on the teaching of literacy.
The College of Education now publishes four editions of Reading Horizons per year with a circulation of approximately 1,000. Individual yearly subscriptions are $25 and $30 for institutions (in Canada, add $5.00 per year -- $10.00 per year overseas shipment). The final issue in each volume contains an Article and Author Index. Rates are determined by costs and subject to change. Address: WMU Reading Center, 1903 W. Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49008-5276.
