Community Health Education

The Health Education programs (Community Health Education and School Health Education) are staffed by four fulltime faculty. Two of these faculty members (Drs. Bensley and Aduroja) have expertise in Community Health Education, with nearly 45 combined years of experience either teaching or being employed within Community Health Education settings. The experiences gained through the professional activities of the faculty are infused within the courses, projects and teaching associated with the Community Health Education program.

  • Developing Internet-based interventions to change health behaviors
  • Writing and administering grants
  • Evaluating the impact and effectiveness of community-based health programs
  • Organizing community leaders and health agencies to address widespread community health problems
  • Creating strategies for resolving alcohol-related problems on college campuses
  • Exploring cultural issues that impact the development of HIV prevention education in South Africa and other Southern African nations
