
Freshman - Incoming
freshmen must apply to and be accepted
by the program in addition to being accepted by the University.
Internal Transfers - WMU students wishing to change into the interior
design major must apply to and be accepted by the program. Applicants
must have a minimum grade point average of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
External Transfers - Students wishing to transfer from other colleges or
universities
into the interior design major must apply
to and be accepted by the program. Applicants must have a
minimum
transferable grade point average of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale as computed
by WMU Admissions.
1. Submit a current resume which includes activities, awards
and work experience.
2.
Complete an interior design program application
form.
3. Write an essay discussing why you wish to major in interior design.
4. You are encouraged, but not required, to submit examples of creative work.
The applicant’s essay, grade point average, resume and examples of art/design work provide criteria for determining admission to the major.
Applications must be received by the interior design program coordinator by May 1 of each year. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by May 20. Applicants are admitted to the program for the fall semester only (not spring or summer).
