2008-09 Program Internship Rotations (40 weeks total)*
7 days: ORIENTATION
15 weeks: CLINICAL NUTRITION ROTATION consisting of:
Clinical Core - 11 weeks
Clinical Staff Relief - 3 weeks
Clinical Enrichment - 1 week (optional)
Rotations are one of the following*:
Battle Creek Health System, Battle Creek
Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo
Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph
Metro Health Hospital, Wyoming (greater Grand Rapids)
Pennock Hospital, Hastings
Spectrum - Blodgett Memorial Med Center, Grand Rapids
St. Mary's Mercy Medical Center, Grand Rapids
3 weeks: LONG-TERM CARE ROTATION at one of the following*:
Calhoun County Medical Facility, Battle Creek
Holland Homes, Grand Rapids
Tendercare Nursing Homes, Portage (Kalamazoo, Marshall and Wyoming (Grand Rapids)
8 weeks: FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT ROTATION
Food Service Core - 7 weeks at one of the following:
Food Service Staff Relief - 1 week
Rotations at one of the following*:
Borgess Hosptial, Kalamazoo
Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo
Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital, Charlotte
Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph
Metro Health Hospital, Wyoming
St. Mary's Mercy Medical Center, Grand Rapids
7 weeks: COMMUNITY NUTRITION ROTATION
Community Core - 4 weeks
Staff Relief or Community enrichment at other sites - approximately 1½ weeks
Core Rotations at one of the following*:
Barry-Eaton District Health Department, Charlotte
Family Health Center WIC, Kalamazoo
Intercare Community Health Network, Bangor
Kent County Health Dept., Grand Rapids
Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services
Muskegon County Health Department, Muskegon
Spectrum Healthreach Program, Grand Rapids
2 weeks: ENRICHMENT ROTATION AT END OF YEAR (intern’s choice of site)
(3 weeks vacation per WMU academic calendar.)
