Master of Arts - Admissions

Admission | Program Requirements | Courses | FAQ

Applicants for the degree must:

  • have completed a baccalaureate degree in education or a related area
  • have earned a 2.5 or higher undergraduate GPA, and
  • have demonstrated interest in and prior experience with the integration of educational technology. (A GRE exam is NOT required for this degree.)

Submit the following to the Office of Admissions and Orientation Graduate Division:

A. Graduate Master's Degree Application

B. Application Fee - $40 Non-refundable fee. (Please make check or money order payable to Western Michigan University.)

C. One official transcript from every previous undergraduate and graduate institution attended other than WMU.

Submit the following to the Educational Technology Program:

A. Write a personal essay (suggested 1000 words) describing your technology/computer skills and background, career goals, and educational philosophy as it relates to Educational Technology. The faculty is also interested in the educational "philosophy" of the student and how that philosophy guides the student’s beliefs about the use of educational technology. Applicants should outline their technology skills and relevant professional experiences in the essay. The essay should provide the faculty reviewers with information to help determine if the student has the necessary technology background and experience to be successful in the program.

B. A second set of official transcripts from every previous undergraduate and graduate institution attended. Mail transcripts to the department address in "A" above.

Once your application is complete with the written statement, master's application, and all transcripts, it will be forwarded to a faculty committee for admission consideration.

Sangren SculptureApplications are usually reviewed on a continuous basis by the faculty of the Educational Technology Program.

Early Enrollment Option: Complete a Graduate Non-Degree application form. This will allow you to complete nine credit hours to your program prior to being fully admitted. Up to six credits may be transferred from another higher educational institution upon approval.

Registration Information

Once you have graduate admission status you may register for classes in the Master of Arts program in Educational Technology at GoWMU.
