Counseling Psychology Doctoral students

Katherine L.N. Colles

Where is your hometown?
Coon Rapids, Minnesota, which is about 25 minutes northwest of Minneapolis.

Who is your advisor?
Dr. Joseph Morris

What is/are your research interest(s)?
My research interest areas are school based counseling programs, career counseling as a form of empowerment and positive affects during the latter years of life.

Tell us about some of your professional experiences in the program:
I am in my first semester of the program. Currently, I serve as the site-coordinator for the Washington Writers' Academy Counseling Center.

What do you want to do after graduation?
I would like the opportunity to work with school-based counseling programs. One of my mentors serves as the director for the St. Paul School District's Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program that employs over 100 counselors district wide, he works as a faculty member for the University of Minnesota's Counseling Psychology Program and is currently serving as Past-President of the American School Counseling Association. Doing something like that seems quite appealing, but who knows where this Ph.D. program journey will take me!
