Graduate admission at Western Michigan University is a two-part process. (Part A) You apply for Graduate Admissions by completing the Graduate Self-Managed Application or International Student Services (OISS) application. If you have not completed and submitted the Graduate-Manage Application you may complete the Online Graduate Application or call 1-269-387-2000. (Part B) You must also apply to the specific department you wish to enter. The CECP Department master’s degree program application materials are available on-line or may be obtained by calling the CECP main office at (269) 387-5100.
Viewing the application requires version 8.0 or higher of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Master's degree application materials must be received by:
January 15 for ensuing summer and fall semester
May 15 for fall admission
September 15 for spring admission
Applicants interested in beginning their graduate Master's degree studies in the fall semester are encouraged to meet the January 15 application deadline. This allows applicants to receive admission offers well in advance of the fall semester. Also, applicants who plan to seek assistantships or campus employment beginning in the fall semester should apply by January 15 to be competitive for such assistance or positions.
1) Signed Graduate Self-Managed Application (or the online application) with check for $40
2) Complete set of official transcripts from each college or university you have attended (except WMU)

Graduate Admissions will send a letter to domestic students if there is missing information.
1) Master's program application, program choice form, and three recommendation forms.
2) Graduate Self-Managed Application: two blue departmental copies. If you apply online, a copy of your application will not be forwarded to the department until admissions has received part A above. Likewise, if you are an international student, your application will not be forwarded to the department until all materials requested by the Office of International Student Services have been received by that office.
3) Transcripts: A complete set of transcripts from each college or university you have attended (except WMU).
4)Professional Goals Statement: On no more than two typewritten, double-spaced pages, write an essay discussing your professional goals. Give attention to work with racial/ethnic minorities and diverse populations throughout your essay. Include a) your reason for wanting to be in a specific program; b) your professional goals as they relate to that program; c) an assessment of your personal assets and liabilities; and d) life experiences that might be useful in your work as a helping professional, including your work with racial/ethnic minorities and diverse populations.
5) Resume: On no more than two pages include standard elements of a resume (e.g. educational and paid work experiences, etc.), and identify and clearly label all volunteer human services experiences and starting and ending dates.

On-Campus Interview: Applicants may be interviewed as a final step in the application process. It is your responsibility to keep the Department updated regarding any changes of address and/or telephone numbers where you may be contacted.
You should receive your admission correspondence 3-4 weeks after the application deadline.
