Golden Apple Award

Purposealumni
The Golden Apple Award is given to honor an outstanding individual who attended or graduated from the WMU College of Education and Human Development and is presently working or retired from the many professions involved in the educational experience. The individuals will be personally selected by their peers as being representative of educational excellence and commitment.

Selection criteria

  • Must be an alumnus/a of Western Michigan University.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching and learning process.
  • Has a distinguished record of applying and widely sharing professional expertise.
  • Has had a positive impact on students and/or the educational process through high standards, professional integrity and commitment to learner-centered education.

Nomination procedure
Nominations may be made by anyone who has partnered in the educational process including teachers, counselors, administrators, students and parents. Individuals may not nominate themselves. Nominations must include one sponsoring letter plus one supporting letter of recommendation. Sponsoring nominations should include a personal anecdote telling why this educator has been chosen and why the nominee meets award criteria.

The nomination form must be submitted no later than June 1.
